Abstract: There currently are a great variety of accounts of scientific representations. They can classified in two main families: inherentist and functional accounts, with borderline cases. Roughly, the former explicate the representation relation in terms if inherent features of model and target, while the latter do it in terms of some function/s. The goal of this talk is to present and defend a particular inherentist account, with some functional components though, and applying it to two of the main problems of scientific representation, namely, the problem of misrepresentation, and the problem of the nature of models.
